OfSTED
St Cuthbert's Pre-School and Playgroup are OfSTED registered and are regularly inspected as part of the government programme of inspection of day care provision and of the funded nursery education that we provide under the national standards.
Our last inspection took place in 2005, when it was concluded that:
'Staff make excellent use of the available space to provide a broad range of interesting activities at each session. They create an accessible learning environment which is visually welcoming. Children move freely and confidently, choosing where they wish to play. The annexe is used particularly well to provide children with very good opportunities to engage in vigorous exercise and be physically active indoors.'

Qualifications
We exceed the minimum requirements for qualified staff. We are proud of the high ratio of adults to children in our group. This ensures individual attention to the needs and development of each child.
Continuous Improvement
Our membership of the Pre-school Learning Alliance ensures that we are constantly in touch with new thinking in the field of child education and care. We receive a monthly magazine offering practical advice and up-todate information, and have access to a range of professionally produced publications. Parents may ask to see any of these. In addition, on-going training is available through Pre-school Learning Alliance and Sefton Early Years courses which members of staff attend regularly.
The Role of Parents
The Pre-school Learning Alliance recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their young children. Our pre-school aims to support parents.
